February 2, 2021 is the 25th "World Wetlands Day", with the theme of "wetlands and water", which aims to emphasize the important contribution of wetlands to the maintenance of global freshwater reserves and water quality, and highlight the relationship between water and wetlands "with life and mutual dependence".
Wetland is an important field of environmental protection. Different countries and experts have different definitions of wetland. Chinese scientists define wetland as an ecosystem composed of perennial or seasonal water accumulation (water depth less than 2 meters, water accumulation for more than 4 months) and over wet land, as well as the biological population that grows and inhabits. The common natural wetlands are swamp, peatland, shallow lake, river beach, coastal beach and salt marsh.
Wetland has a strong function of regulating groundwater, which can effectively store water and resist flood peak; it can purify sewage and regulate regional microclimate; it is also an important habitat for aquatic animals, amphibians, birds and other wildlife. Wetland, forest and ocean are called the three global ecosystems, which breed and enrich the global biodiversity, and are compared to "the kidney of the earth".
"Wetland moistens life"
Today is the 25th World Wetlands Day
We have launched the following initiatives:
Don't disturb birds
Don't collect animals
No damage to wetland vegetation
Timely report and stop the destruction of wetland ecological environment
Jointly protect the "kidney of the earth"
harmonious co-existence between man and nature
Wish nature and health
I wish every one of us good health.
